An Awakening Corridor
Signs of Return at the Nisenan Cultural Reclamation Corridor
The Nisenan Cultural Reclamation Corridor (NCRC) continues to be a powerful testament to what’s possible when land is tended with care, intention, and Cultural respect.
Last month, wildlife cameras captured images of a thriving ecosystem in motion: foxes weaving through restored clearings, deer grazing along the trail, and bears lumbering its way across this revitalized landscape.
Many of these areas were once so overgrown with invasive species and fire-prone brush that movement - by humans or animal - was nearly impossible.
Thanks to ongoing stewardship rooted in Nisenan values and ecological knowledge, the land is beginning to breathe freer again. Paths have opened. Native species are returning.
The trail has become a bridge not only for community connection, but for our animal kin.
This is just one glimpse of the wider ripple effect of Cultural reclamation. When the land is cared for, everything that calls it home benefits.
